How this board works

Town Work exists because the good jobs around here get filled by word of mouth, and word of mouth only reaches the people who happen to be standing nearby. This is the same thing, written down where everyone can see it.

For people looking for work

Search by word, by hours, or by trade. Every posting says where the work is, roughly what it pays, and what the day actually involves — not a list of duties copied from a template. When something looks right, apply from the posting itself: your name, your email, and anything you want them to know. It goes straight to the person hiring.

You don't need an account to look or to apply. You only need one if you want to comment under a job — asking about the hours, saying you've applied, or answering someone else's question. Comments are public and stay attached to the posting.

For companies and households

Posting is free. Write the job the way you'd describe it to someone at the school gate: what the work is, when it is, who they'd be working with, and what you're paying. Postings go into a queue rather than straight onto the page, because a board nobody checks fills up with things that aren't real jobs.

Once it's approved it stays up until you ask us to take it down. Applications arrive in your inbox with the applicant's details, so you can reply directly.

What we won't do

No fees to applicants, ever. No charging employers to be seen first. No anonymous postings — every job on here has a real contact behind it, and if we can't find one, it doesn't go up.

Questions

If something about a posting looks wrong, or you want one taken down, tell the board and it'll be handled. [Board contact email]
